The benefits of Maintenance Osteopathic Treatments (MOT) with Bristol Osteopath Alex Prince this Autumn

Autumn is well and truly here, and I’ve recently been outlining to a few patients the benefits of Maintenance Osteopathic Treatments at my Bristol clinic.

I have shortened the above to MOT, because just as we service and maintain our cars regularly, the body should also get some preventative maintenance or MOT.

It’s important to review previous issues within the body and give ourselves a good service on a regular basis. This is where a Maintenance Osteopathic Treatment (MOT) can help, especially with the onset of colder and wetter Autumn weather which can heighten old issues with joints and muscles.

A changing season brings a change in activity levels for many of my patients, with sporty people often changing their Summer training regime, while patients engaged in Winter sports pick up their activity levels in the Autumn.

Elderly patients can be less active in the Autumn and Winter, with less work to do in the garden and less trips outside in poorer weather conditions.

Many of my other patients also change their outdoor activities in Autumn, and may become more gym-based for their fitness and physical wellbeing needs.

During these times, when the body is going through seasonal adaptation, this can cause specific issues with joints or muscles, as well as making underlying previous problems reoccur for some patients.

This is where Maintenance Osteopathic Treatments (MOT) at my Bristol clinic can be vital to some patients, for maintaining a better level of movement, preventing issues developing, and maintaining flexibility and stability during the Autumn months.

Autumn brings damp and cold, which impacts joints and muscles, whilst changes in air pressure from new weather patterns can affect body movement in some patients.

Patients can experience stiffness, aches and pains during the Autumn, with a corresponding loss or reduction in flexibility. By utilising an MOT with me, patients can focus on their core stability and daily movement levels.

In essence, a Maintenance Osteopathic Treatment at my Bristol clinic can be considered as a useful preventative measure this Autumn for patients.
